Devices other than lights #57
Comments
Hi James,
In the current way things are setup, selflearning switches are assumed to
be Lightbulbs in the eyes if Homekit. This is something I've been meaning
to address, but it's not likely that I'll be able to do so within the next
couple of weeks, I'm afraid.

Hi,
is there a way of setting up each device as anything other than a light in
Homekit? I have a pair of speakers that turn on when I ask Siri to "turn on
the lights". I had a quick look in the tellstick.conf but couldn't find
anything that stood out to me (non software developer). Is this at all
possible or is it just the way Homebridge runs?
Thanks :)
James

Any news on this issue? I would really appreciate support for other types than lightbulbs in HomeKit. In my case I'm using Nexa selflearning switches I'm wishing should show up as (power) switches instead of light bulbs. //Ulf |
I might have a couple of hours over this weekend to take a look at this. One problem with switches is that they were assumed to be lights from the start, and there is no quick and tidy way of changing that without breaking backwards compatibility. There might be a way to do something similar as was done with sensors - but for devices as a while. Please let me know if you have any ideas, and I'll take a look. |
Hi Anton. Sadly I don’t know so much about the interface for HomeKit.
Would it be possible to add a new and optional parameter, say nexaSwitchLightBulb with default value true meaning all selflearning switches should still be treated as light bulbs and with false value meaning power switches or something else?

Hello, I'd also like to be able to change to a switch because I use Nexa's outdoor switch (433 Mhz) for purposes other than lighting. |
