Why

We’re committed to keeping our app up to date.

What

Update dependencies, enable rails defaults for version 8.

  • Upgrade spring
  • Upgrade nokogiri
  • Upgrade puma
  • Upgrade govuk_test
  • Upgrade browser
  • Upgrade publishing components (12 major versions behind 😵) Frontend dev started work on this but will not continue:
  • ⏸ Upgrade plek (can't be upgraded until publishing components is up to date, it can be removed once govuk_publishing_components are on v31.1.0+)
  • Upgrade to rails 6.1
  • Upgrade to rails 7.0 #1426
  • Upgrade to rails 7.1
  • ⏸ Upgrade sentry-ruby (currently blocked because concurrent-ruby v1.3.5 has removed the dependency on logger. Updating rails to 7.1 will fix the issue)
  • Upgrade to rails 7.2
  • Upgrade to rails 8.0
