Dynamic Polling? (since ver 1.5.0)

In the wiki I came across a set of automations that set varying poll rates dependant upon car state and time elased etc. However, this wiki artical (https://github.com/alandtse/tesla/wiki/Dynamic-Polling-Frequency is only applicable to version 1.5.0 of the code.

Is there a way to still optimise this code polling frequency based upon updated automations that can work with the latest code?

I'm new to HA in general and may have missed this but I'm keen to allow my car to sleep but poll frequently in certain circumstances. I noted the comment "When disconnected we check every minute to see if the car wakes up. This is done to Tesla directly. In fact, that check with Tesla is continuous. The scan interval options only impact connections to the car itself."
