This week, we made significant strides in expanding Darker's accessibility and recognizing our growing community of contributors. The initiative to create a Conda package for Darker (#114) gained momentum, with @martinRenou submitting a pull request to the
conda-forge/staged-recipes
repository. This move represents a crucial step towards making Darker more easily available to Conda users. However, the installation process encountered issues on Windows, highlighting the need for broader platform testing in our continuous integration pipeline. In response to the Windows-related challenges, we discussed the possibility of expanding our CI to include Windows environments. This addition would help us catch platform-specific issues earlier in the development process, ensuring smoother experiences for users across different operating systems. We've planned to create a dedicated GitHub issue to track this improvement to our development workflow.
We also took the time to acknowledge the valuable contributions of our community members. A pull request was merged (#119) updating the README to include new contributors @philipgian, @rossbar, and @tkolleh, as well as recognizing @Pacu2 as a reviewer and @martinRenou as a contributor. This update not only credits individual efforts but also showcases the growing collaborative nature of the Darker project.
