Description

In Firefox, when playing YouTube videos, the audio stream volume inconsistently resets to various levels (as observed in pavucontrol). Manually adjusting the volume to any level gets overridden. The volume reverts when:

  • The page is refreshed.
  • The video is paused and resumed.
  • The video volume is re-adjusted/changed in the browser.
  • A new video starts.
  • Browser is relaunched.
  • New YouTube tabs.

Scope

This issue currently appears to affect only YouTube videos.

YouTube audio normalization? 🤔
Whatever it is. Don't want this behavior.

This addon seems to fix the issue: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/soundfixer/
