It's pretty hard to pin down the gym location from current gray scale map.

So, I'd like to see the gym location pre-defined in the map. I think it would be groovy if registering gym location can be done by pasting Google map URL.

What is the expected behavior or new feature?

Gym sprites are show on the map (turn on/off) - The gym can have a name and should be same as the Pokemon Go gym name.

Clicking the gym fires the "start beacon".

The beacon shows the name of gym.

What is the motivation / use case for changing the behavior?

It's very time consuming to start the beacon from the plain map. I understand the beacons to stand out, but the gray scale map is not very helpful to pin the gym location.

This is a great idea. If gyms are persistent on the radio map, there is also the opportunity to add additional information (previous bosses and trainers, win/loss ratio perhaps). The main benefit is that it would make it much easier to initiate a raid. It could also be used to tell other trainers of an upcoming raid, even if you are not going to be able to participate yourself.

As useful as I think this could be, I think that this treads too close to violating their TOS/Copyright. Part of what makes Niantic different than every other copycat AR game is their POI database. If we started trying to recreate that on the road, I think that it would open the door to bad things.
