Cart not showing automatically applied discount codes

Hi guys,

on my shopify store I have a discount code EARLYBIRD that automatically applies to certain products within dates. the discount itself is being applied and the cost is reduced. but the cart is not giving me any information to use to display to the user the price difference and the discount type. at the moment am looking at discountCodes provided by useCart and it is an empty array as in the image.

am i looking at the wrong place or is there a different way to get this information?
