Thanks ! I really like some words ! But how about this one : Advance your data to advance your science. Enrich your scientific data to enable easy meta data management with SciCat, an open source scientific meta data catalogue that comes with all the useful features you need. As example, SciCat has a ready to use path for data publication and its ability to be integrated to almost any infrastructure makes it flexible to very specific needs. We are committed to high class science through making your data centrally findable and accessible – in a FAIR format and with an open and collaborative community behind it. |
I like starting with a sentence derived from the tagline. I think all the first sentences proposed fit this well, and could be easily adopted based on the decision in #55. I like how @nitrosx's proposed version includes three terms from FAIR without using the acronym. Likewise "sharing and collaboration" is inclusive of many use cases. The second sentence sounds very corporate; since most of our users are academic maybe we can reduce the corporate jargon. My attempt: Advance your data to advance your science. SciCat is an open-source scientific metadata catalog designed to simplify metadata management, enabling data sharing, discovery, and collaboration. By providing a central hub for metadata, SciCat makes data easily findable and accessible for the entire community. With flexible integration into diverse infrastructures and a clear path to data publication, SciCat empowers organizations to foster an open and innovative data culture, driving high-quality science forward. |
Hi Regina Thanks for your input. I really like the line about supported by a communnity and I think we should somehow add that to our mission statement. We discussed heavily about including the acronym FAIR, but were advised by the comms team at the Franklin it would be too specific. We will ask for advise from none data experts and Comms about our mission statement before putting it live. Thanks for your suggestions |
I like Spencer's suggestion too. It has a lot of what Regina has suggested too. I like the tone of it, as it is a bit more exciting than the original mission statement proposed by Max and I, whilst keeping many of the same ideas. I will put these to Comms after we talk about this in our next meeting. |
Taking all the suggestions including, Igor's on open-source, Regina's on community and Spencer's how about: Advance your data to advance your science. SciCat is a community driven scientific metadata catalog designed to simplify metadata management, enabling data sharing, discovery, and collaboration. By providing a central hub for metadata, SciCat makes data easily findable and accessible for the entire community. With flexible integration into diverse infrastructures and a clear path to data publication, SciCat empowers organizations to foster an open and innovative data culture, driving high-quality science forward. |
Create a mission statement for the project that explain what SciCat is about and its functionalities.
The objective should be short description that is useful when presenting the tool to facility and company managers.
