I'm interested in using this abstraction. What's its status?

I think it's a great abstraction layer and I'm excited by the ease of use and configuration.

We're working on a sizable addon in my community and the large chunks of raw sql are getting cumbersome. Slowing new developers down, making it harder to work with elsewhere, etc.

We're using mysql as a data store, which, as I understand it, should be supported.

So what's the status of this project? It's almost a decade old so I imagine it's a bit stale, if even still functional.

No, I have no plans on continuing development on OTLib. However, you're specifically referring to the simpledata module, which if I recall correctly was finished. You're free to take it and use it on your own projects.
