JULY

  • ACCOMPLISHMENTS (What progress did we make towards these goals?)
  • LEARNINGS (What challenges did we face/what went well/what did we learn?)
    • In order to meet the programmatic deadline for the OWF site changes, we decided not to revamp the Advocacy site look and feel to align with new design standards set with the Science site. Instead we made basic layout changes to support the new content. This was a good decision, since the Advocacy site already looks great, so spending extra energy here wouldn't have provided a great deal of added value.
    • We made the decision to discontinue our work on Calypso, our CMS implementation. We learned from our experiment that it would not meet the complex layout and design needs of our content.

AUGUST

  • ACCOMPLISHMENTS (What progress did we make towards these goals?)
    • Shipped new multi-tabbed structure for Clubs content on Learning site
    • Streamlined Club Captain application/review workflow with new multi-page Club Captain application form
    • Implemented Learning site localization infrastructure. Here is, for example, the Pontoon interface for localizing the homepage into Brazilian Portuguese.
      screen shot 2016-08-30 at 10 53 11 am
    • Gigabit content merger into Learning hub has been wireframed
    • Shipped beta version of Women and Web Literacy hub web presence
  • LEARNINGS (What challenges did we face/what went well/what did we learn?)
    • We learned that the value of localized Learning hub site will be greatly enhanced by having localized curricular content, but that we don't have a lot of staff capacity to work on this.
  • PRIORITIES FOR NEXT MONTH (What are we focusing on next?)
    • We need to develop workflows for localizing curricular content. This may involve making changes to how we author curriculum in the first place. Discussion is happening in this doc
    • Gigabit content merger UI and implementation
    • MozFest website updates as needed
  • ON TRACK? BLOCKED? (List dependencies, or collaborations with other teams at MoFo/MoCo)
    • Localization will not progress very quickly unless we have staff dedicated to this effort. See a proposal for Localization Teams here. This project would need staffing.
    • Science site v2 has been pushed out to later in H2, to accommodate other projects
    • We may decide we need to build out a Mofo-wide API for Events (paving the way for other pan-hub services)—this would likely require reconfiguring the H2 roadmap, but might be a smart move in the long-term. We need to have some conversations with stakeholders and technical staff about this.
    • Developing a specific content plan for merging Hive content into the Learning site should be happening in September - need to identify someone to lead this
    • Explore real-time indicators of network health—we have not moved forward on this. We need to connect with the Insights team to see what can be done here.
    • Support the network mapping survey—same as above.
    • Identity access management integration and Persona replacement—waiting on other teams to move on this.
    • Need clarity regarding next steps on One Mozilla Clubs shared platform project
