WMTS與WMSWMS（Web Map Service）能根據使用端的需求，顯示出相對應的地圖範圍；WMTS（Web Map Tile Service）則是伺服器端將地圖切割成一塊塊的圖磚（tile），然後根據使用端的需求範圍，只顯示切割完的拼貼圖磚，可以提高服務的效能。
