Exercise 2.5 (Access Control) should be simplified to avoid taking too much time in the course. The exercise may be also a bit too detailed for an introduction course. The simple solution of converting the last parts of the exercise into additional tasks may not be the best option in this case, as the most essential aspects of the exercise do not come chronologically at the beginning.

I would suggest that the most important issue for the participants is to understand the users, roles, and permissions settings for GeoServer. Thus, I propose keeping the same content in the exercise as it is, but moving the Identification section to the end.

The exercise would progress as follows:

  1. GeoServer general security settings

  2. Creating a new role and user

  3. Limiting access rights to the data

  4. User-specific access rights for the data

At this point, the most essential aspects have become familiar.

Additional task: Map service-specific rights (Note! This section needs checking and fixes in the English version https://github.com/GispoCoding/GP004_Introduction_to_GeoServer .)

Additional task: Identification

The same modifications would take place also in the English version.
