@am0eba-byte@wdjacca In the Variorum Viewer for MS Collation Chunk 7, we can see long stretches of MS that aren't marked as comparable with anything in the other editions. The other editions at related moments show that the MS Edition is simply "missing ," when the variation story is definitely more complicated. Let's keep an eye out for more passages like this and keep a running list of them here in this issue! Do NOT try to correct anything with these passages (it's complicated)! But let's just file them in a checklist. (You can edit this issue to add new passages). Let's mark them based on the first few distinctive words and the last few distinctive words in such "blank" stretches apparently devoid of variants:
MS Chunk 7: "being an only child, and destitute of companions at home," ... "I used when very youngto attend lectures of chemistrygiven in Geneva and athoughI did not understand them theexperiments never failed toattract my attention.I reme^mberalso [wWhen I was about twelvefourteen yearsold we were at our house nearBelrive when we witnessed the aviolent atand terrible thunder storm" (precedes MS "Chapter 2"--this passage seems to repeat.)
MS Chunk 7: "^thier credit with ^me – but I could not entirely throwthem aside before" ... "I used when very youngto attend lectures of chemistrygiven in Geneva and athoughI did not understand them theexperiments never failed toattract my attention.I reme^mberalso [wWhen I was about twelvefourteen yearsold we were at our house nearBelrive when we witnessed the aviolent atand terrible thunder storm" (that's apparently a repetition of the thunderstorm passage above!)
