As can be seen from the image below, the Maplist panel in the client previews maps that are in the current map rotation.
What would be neat if a user could click on one of those maps, and it hosts a custom game lobby with that map for the player. This would allow for players to quickly familiarize themselves with the map.
If it were to open a custom lobby, the parameters would be:
Name: "{Player's name}' {map name} test game"
Password: none
Game type: FAF
Mods: as they are currently active for the player (maybe disable sim mods? idk)
Map: the one the player clicked in the maplist
So it would be equivalent of the player doing this:
Another alternative for this would be if the player could filter "ladder maps" using the filter button when hosting a custom game (maybe 4 different selectors, one for each of the 4 queues), and it could look something like:
