ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server

Hey, I don't know who to contact, it seems like VEP stopped to work.

mysql -h ensembldb.ensembl.org -P 3306 -u anonymous
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'ensembldb.ensembl.org:3306' (111)

mysql -h ensembldb.ensembl.org -P 5306 -u anonymous
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'ensembldb.ensembl.org:5306' (111)

Where can I monitor the status of this issue? When it may be solved? A few days ago it didn't work too, but after some time it started...

The problem is still ongoing, and I cannot connect to the SQL database.

As mentioned there can be intermittent issue with the public MySQL. Can you try again after a break or so if you face any connectivity issue.

Thanks for the quick reply @nakib103. Unfortunately, I've been trying since last week and I am positive it's not a connectivity issue.

@Z-Zen , I have checked and I can connect to the server currently.

Have you been able to connect to database in past? Sometimes the port is blocked by firewall in institutes. Can you check with your network team if that is the case?

Hey @nakib103, thanks for confirming. It was indeed a problem with our network. Sorry for the trouble. It's now resolved!
