so, when I load .obj file without colour information, Display assigns different colours when showing them inside the volume. But when I load objects which do have colour assigned to them, Display shows it properly in 3D surface view, but still assigns predetermined colours in volume view.

@vfonov Does the file have a single, non-white, colour assigned? If so, Display should use that colour. If the file uses per-vertex or per-item colours, Display will still auto-assign the cross-section colour.
