Possible alternative to an external IIIF annotation server -- to review:

Local IIIF Annotation Server - Jekyll front end, Flask backend, equipped with Vagrant Box that provides a Mirador viewer for creating and save annotations into Jekyll site. Annotations are sharable by using GitHub pages with Jekyll front end. Ref. https://github.com/IIIF/awesome-iiif#annotation-servers
